Volunteer opportunities in GHANA

 

Community afforestation project
       Gyankufa          May 12 - June 2, 2006

Volunteer project: The volunteer work will mainly involve brushing of weeds in the fields. The international volunteers will be joined by the local community on this community afforestation project.
Volunteers will also take part in HIV/AIDS educational program. The camp will plan its own strategies for a HIV/AIDS awareness campaign.

Accommodation: Volunteers will sleep in a school block. Lighting: lanterns. Water: borehole.

Location: Gyankufa, Jaaman district, Brong Ahafo Region

Age range: 20 and over

Extra fee: 200 Euros
This extra fee is intended to support the hosting organization who does not have sufficient funds to organize the project. The extra fee is due upon arrival on the project.
 

 

 

Construction of a school building
       Mangu          June 9 - June 30, 2006

Volunteer project: The international volunteers together with the local community will construct a school block in Mangu. Work activities will involve mixing of concrete, molding of blocks, laying blocks, erection of walls, etc.
Volunteers will also take part in HIV/AIDS educational program.

Accommodation: Volunteers will sleep in homes. Lighting: electricity. Water: pipe borne water.

Location: Mangu, WA district, Upper West Region

Age range: 20 and over

Extra fee: 200 Euros

Construction of KVIP
       Abutia Kpota          July 7 - July 28, 2006

Volunteer project: The workcamp participants will work together with people from the local community to construct KVIP. Work activities will involve mixing of concrete, molding of blocks, laying blocks, erection of walls etc.
Volunteers will also take part in HIV/AIDS educational program.

Accommodation: Volunteers will sleep in homes. Lighting: electricity. Water: pipe borne water.

Location: Abutia Kpota, Ho district, Volta Region

Age range: 20 and over

       Denchemuoso          July 14 - August 4, 2006

Volunteer project: The group of volunteers will help with the construction of a student hostel in Denchemuoso. Volunteers will be joined by the local community members. Planned activities include mixing of concrete, molding of blocks, laying blocks, erection of walls etc.
Volunteers will also take part in HIV/AIDS educational program.

Volunteer project: The aim of the international workcamp is constructing a community library. Volunteers will carry out different activities such as mixing concrete, molding blocks, laying blocks, erection of walls, etc. Workcamp participants will work side by side with local people from the community.
Volunteers will also take part in HIV/AIDS educational program.

Accommodation: Volunteers will sleep in homes. Lighting: electricity. Water: pipe borne water.

Location: Dwenease, Kwaebibirem district, Eastern Region

Age range: 20 and over
