Support the educational and cultural exchange programs for children on Wando Island

Volunteer project: Wando is a small island located in the south-west, about 500 km away from Seoul. And it has the first-class clean sea area in Korea. Wando provides abundant sea foods which is the most delicious and high-quality in the country. Because of the distance, the local people do not get many opportunities to see and meet foreign people. In this respect, the project will play an important role in bringing the local children and people to get a taste of diverse cultures.

Volunteer work: The host organization, Wando Jeil Church, runs a local children center, a local teenager center and various social service centers. International volunteers and Korean volunteers mainly join their education programs and various activities. Also, any kind of activities and ideas are welcome, as long as they provide the local children and teenagers with opportunities for cultural exchange. There will be summer camp for children during project period and the volunteers can visit Haenam local children center nearby.
There are many social service centers run by the local host. You can visit a local senior center, a free food center and a local self-support center.

Free time: During the weekends, there are lots of things to do in Jeonnam area, various local festival, beautiful nature and historical places.

Profile of the volunteer:
• Previous volunteer experience with children (preferred but not necessary)
• Interest about Korea (learning the language and cultures of the local area).
• Ability to teach and communicate in English (non-formal English teaching)
• Initiative and active personality
• Skills to manage club activities (e.g. music, dance, sports, theatre, etc.)
• Flexibility and positive mind

Documents to be submitted: Motivation letter, resume, certificate of good conduct and a picture are requested with application.

Accommodation: An apartment for 3 volunteers, recently equipped with all modern facilities. Three meals a day are provided.

Location: Wando, Jeonnam Province; about 5 hours away from Seoul by bus.

Terminal: Incheon International Airport

Age range: 18 - 40 years old

Pocket money: Volunteers will receive 100,000 Won per month (about 65 EUR) pocket money.
